"...so, once I identified the dark stranger as a xeph, I tried to adjust my tactics to try to wear him out. But he just kept racing around us. I thought they could only move so fast for so long!"

"As if wilders or maenads weren't dangerous enough separately. This young 'lady' who wants to explore her so-called heritage is a danger to herself and anyone around her."
— Xamuel Redstone, on the subject of a rejected application to the Ruby Academy.

Halcyon Jorgrond, a friend of Xamuel Redstone and frequent visiting instructor at the Ruby Academy, is said to have giant blood. Whenever he is confronted by that rumor, he categorically denies it, saying instead that he is a giant, with human blood as well.

"I've heard elan described as 'perfected' humans. I prefer to think of them as altered humans. There is always room for improvement."

"Always be wary of gray-skinned dwarves, but especially ones who seem to be in a good mood. These are ones who have embraced the tormented lifestyle of their kind. Not only does it strengthen them, but they usually try to spread the suffering to others."

"No, this place is not that different from where I grew up. More well-lit, but surface cities would be. The hustle and bustle is about the same, and the variety of beings is comparable. Not the same groups, of course. The biggest difference between this city and my home, as far as I'm concerned, is the attitude. Back home, it was all business and responsibility; here, people work hard, but they also enjoy life. Learning to do that has helped me learn a lot about myself, and someday I hope to bring some of that back to my people."
— Jiklev'en, dromite urban ranger.

Xamuel Redstone keeps a collection of trophies in his office at the Ruby Academy. His most prized trophy is a stuffed goblin head with an unusal blue skin-tone. He refers to it as "my greatest adversary".

Those wishing to combine mental power with devotion to a deity had limited choices of patrons, until the rumors of a mysterious new deity of psionics began to circulate. While most supposed followers of this new deity are lay people, some with actual divine magical ability have been identified.

Fortunately, the psionic trickster training has not been taught long enough for anyone to reach the true pinnacle of its abilities. At least, not that anybody knows of.

Among the magic-related training that Xamuel Redstone adapted to work with psionics was the oft-rumored, but seldom seen, arcane trickster. He almost immediately regretted this move, as the Panther Claws began recruiting candidates from the Ruby Academy.
